It is widely recognised that proper nutrition is fundamental for our health. Diet is the primary way our bodies receive the nutrients that it needs for growth, repair and other regulatory functions. Without abundant nutrients, our bodies cannot do all the things it needs to do to function well. Many common symptoms such as cravings, weight gain, poor energy levels, skin conditions, hormonal irregularities, digestive complaints, headaches and simply an overall reduced vitality are related to diet and nutrition.

Whole-food nutrition is the philosophy that food in it’s naturally occurring state is richer in vitamins, minerals and other essential nutrients than processed foods. The more processing steps food undergoes, the more nutrition and vitality is lost from the food. Fresh, seasonal, whole food still contains “Life-Force”, an energy that is vital for a healthy body. Many factors influence the nutrient value of food: where and in what way it is grown and stored; whether it is sprayed with pesticides, herbicides or preservatives; and the way it is cooked can significantly impact its nutrient quality.

As a nutritionist I believe that people’s diets should be in alignment with their natural constitution; I use the Ayurvedic body types to suggest the food that will nourish and bring a person back into balance.

Whole-food nutrition is mostly an enjoyable process of replacing nutrient depleted foods with fresh, colourful, seasonal, delicious and wholesome foods that nourish your body and make you feel healthy, vital and alive.
